Cover letter: Advance Parole

My AP expired this last January (03). I am now thinking of renewing it, as my wife and daughter plan to visit India in June. Can I apply for renewal my self or lawyer mediation is a must? Also who wd write the cover letter? Employer, I.....?

You don't need a lawyer to apply for a new AP. Read the instructions. The procedure is very straight forward.

You can apply directly and also can contact National Custom Service Center (1-800-375-5283) for applying AP.

Documents required:

1. I-131 application
2. Copy of the 1-485 receipt
3. Check for $110.00 and payable to Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services
4. 2 photos (Side view) and write the name and A# backside of the photo


Last week I applied AP by myself and I haven't included any cover letter.

I suggest just read the instuctions and file by yourself.

We got it yesterday at Newark Office. Just have your form filled up, Collect all the required documents and a request letter stating the reason of travel. That's it.

It was walk in service. I got for 6 months and spouse got it for 1 year.

I heard the Local office would issue AP only if you are having any emergency travel.

Could u please explain how did u get it from the local office?

I do have an emergency reason but I heard a lady officer telling someone that you can apply there if you qualify for AP.

Besides, I just had a request letter and itinerary of travel with me.
( tickets are not confirmed yet as I was skeptical about getting the approval without supported document for emergency reason)

for example, to visit a sick parent, a letter from a family doctor

List of required documents

A request letter stating the reason of your travel
itinerary of travel
Copy of I 485 receipt
Copy of I 140 receipt
2 photographs
Passport

I would suggest if you donot have an emergency, do not apply at local office because it takes your whole day.

Sample cover Letter

I recently came across the following. Can some one help me understand:

"Only if foreign spouse needs to travel out/back into US, and if foreign spouse is not over 179 days out of status. Do NOT apply for or use advance parole if you are over 179 days out of status! You are subject to a ban if you leave the US when you are over 179 days out of status, and they will NOT let you back into the US even if you have advance parole!!"

Also can any one forward me a sample cover letter that goes with Form I-131.

What is address of local office at Newark?

Hey Guys

1. Can someone get me the Address of Local Office at Newark where I can apply personally for Advanced Parole(I-131)?

2. Does one get AP on the same day or it takes some days?
Is it walk-in anyday or some specific days or by appointment?

3. Is there any document missing as mentioned by people above?

4. Actually I had applied for AP in 1st week of Feb 2003 and am
hoping to get approval in next 2 weeks.
Any idea when can i expect my AP approval?
Any idea what EAC processing for AP?
