Hi Guys,

Is 101 days to be out of the country during the 5 year green card period a lot of days to be out?

Should I wait a little before filing for citizenship?

Thanks again

It say you can file 90 days to the anniversary of your GC issuance. Which part of that is confusing to you? You indicate you have 101, in my simple logic, I can see you are not eligible to now till the 90th day. I would wait till 5 days have passed to apply (meaning 85 days to my anniversary), just to be on the safe side.

See what happened to this gentleman when he applied for his naturalization days earlier than required...:) You won't be pleased with the results...

You misunderstood my question

I'm sorry but you misunderstood my question. I have already passed the 90 days grace period. I got my GC on Oct 24 2004.

My question is regarding the total amount of days spent outside the country. (Part 7, Question A - to be exact). I was wondering if people have spent more then 100 days out of the country? if they have, did they have a problem when they applied for citizenship? For some reason I feel 100 days is a lot.

100 is not a problem for USCIS as long as you maintaied required residency in the US. There people who have spend 140 days outside the US, some have been away for 160. No need to worry about it. I haven't come across anyoen who had problems, unless they abandoned their residency for some reasons. I saw someone who had a combined trips of 350 days, and they got their citizenship without a problems.

As long as your trip did not last more than 180 days in any single trip, you are just fine. Go ahead.
