Could someone please tell me what does this message imply ?

This is what my I-485 online status shows after INS received the reply for my Employment Verification :

On June 26, 2004, we received your response to our request for evidence or information. It is taking between 570 and 600 days for us to process this kind of case. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case.

Closer to a decision

They might be closer to making a decision. For me same thing happened for my 1-140. We sent reply for RFE and on march 25th(2004) or so the message got updated like
"... We received your response... it is taking 180 days to process... how ever since we completed preliminary processing .... we will mail you a decision."

and on april 4th (2004) my case was approved.

So expect a decision soon. :)
 
That is the same message as I got after I replied RFE. That is normal. BTW, I got approved after three weeks.
