I see plenty of posts from people who find that they are still waiting while those who are later in the queue got approved.
This is one of the negative effects of a forum like this (the positive far outweighs the negative). While the intention is to share data that puts things in some kind of order, in this case it only puts more burden on already strained nerves. And cruelly reminds us of what we are up against. A system that does not follow the dictats of logic and fairness.
I would still offer the following thoughts knowing that these will be far from comforting those who are stressed out:
a. Things are much better now than they were before. People who filed 485 in 1999 had to wait upto 2 years to get approval. Imagine them checking AVM everyday.
b. It has never been the case that 485 cases are being processed in order. There is nothing new here. And MD/RD/ND alone is not the issue here. The wait began when you started the LC and there are people who\'ve been waiting for more than 4 years. This should put in perspective the minor differences in a few months when it comes to RD etc.
c. Approval announcements of later dates do not necessarily mean that our case is languishing. It is probably with a slow moving officer. Or maybe the person just got lucky. No point in letting it get to our nerves. A flood of approvals indicate that some work going on and this should lift our hopes irrespective of pecking order.
d. Frequency of checking AVM : I\'ve seen earlier posts advising people not to check their AVM every day. Once a week should be enough. This is good advice. Just think about it. Each time I hear the same old message, my spirits drop and it takes a while for me to recover and get back to my daily stuff. Why go through this see-saw every day? If my approval comes through 70 days from now, for example, why make 70 calls that puts such an emotional burden. Instead, make just 10 calls. The toll on mind and purse will be much lighter. No one lost anything because they heard their approval message late. The other issue here is if a RFE is issued. The agony of waiting for your attorney to get the RFE letter will be greatly reduced if you listen to the AVM only occassionally.
