Converting a fiance visa petition to spouse visa petition

Hi all,

I am a US citizen and my fiance is an Indian citizen resident in India.
I had applied for a K1 fiance visa about a month back. Haven't received any confirmation yet from the INS.

Due to a change in circumstances, me and my fiance want to get married sooner than the fiance petition is approved. My question is: since the fiance visa has been filed, is it possible to convert that application to a spouse visa application? Or withdraw the application and file a spouse visa application?

This is a tough situation for us so would appreciate any prompt replies.

Thanks in advance.

You do realise that K-1 visas have a shorter processing time than K-3 or CR/IR immigrant visas?

Poster above is spot on. If you want to be together sooner rather than later I would suggest to keep going with the fiance visa. The time frame from application to visa in hand is significantly shorter for a fiance as opposed to a spouse.
In answer to your question.....you cannot convert, you would have to reapply for K3/CR1/IR1 (hence meaning you will be apart for EVEN LONGER seeing as the month spent on the fiance visa processing will be meaningless...plus the added time waiting until you are married before you can even apply for a spouse visa).
