convert h1b to f1

I got an admission into MS program as part time student. Currently I am working on h1b visa, so I opted for parttime. If I want to become fulltime student, how many days it will take to change my status to f1 ?

My 6th year is reaching end of Jan 2007, Do I have enough time to get my status changed o f1. You mentioned it takes 3 to 5 months. Is it possible to stay in US while my staus change is in process.
