Continuous residency & re-entry permit

All,
I received my GC in Jan 2009. In Mar 2010 i was seconded to India on a 2 year assignment with my current employer. I applied for a re-entry permit which is valid until Mar 2012.

I am still employed on US payroll & have a home in US which i maintain (not rented out, paying utility & cable bills on a monthly basis + taxes).

I have been travelling back every 3-4 months and working out of the US for abt a month or so to maintain the continuous residency.

I intend to return to the US prior to expiry of my re-entry permit and continue my prior employment.

Questions:
- Is my assumption that as long as i'm not away from the country for >180d + maintaining US ties, i'm maintaining continuous residency (even though i have a re-entry permit)?
- I'm aware of 3 yrs physical presence requirement for citizenship, so once i come back end of this yr, i would be able to apply for citizenship in 3 yrs (& i dont need to wait 5 yrs due to my 1st question)?

Appreciate your valuable feedback.

IF you have already spent one continuous year in the U.S. as an LPR between Jan, 2009 and March 2010, not even a one day absence, THEN, IF your employer is a American owned business, THEN you can still file an N-470 the preserve continuity of residence for naturalization purposes. Read the form instuctions, there is a deadline to file.
