Hi,

I have been PR since July, 2004 and made two foreign trips for short period (3-4 months) and changed a career in a 5 year period.

Can I apply for citizenship 90 days before completing 5 years?
Are there any issues for changing career?

I appreciate your help and any suggestions.

If you took two separate trips of 3 to 4 months with a substantial gap in-between them, then you should be fine to apply 90 days before the 5 year mark.

your career has no relevance towards the acceptability of your N-400. Also keep in mind before submitting your application to your local service center/lockbox covering your state that you live there for at least 90 days or your application will get rejected back to you for not meeting that requirement. You must also meet the residency requirement of being a LPR for at least 4 years and 9 months. Any trips that are over 30 days long i suggest you give information on your application

Continuous Rresidence and Stay 5+months outside US

We traveled outside US two times for short period (3-4 months myself) and my wife stayed 4 months in one trip and less than 6 months (more accurately 5 months 20 days). The gap between two trips was 2 years. When she entered the US, immigration officer asked what was the reason for longer stay and she explained due to child health. The officer told her not to repeat next time. I think he did not enter in the system. Does it have any implications on continuous residence. Can she apply at the same time when I apply for US citizenship. I appreciate any suggestions or input .

I was gone for a little over 5 months and was asked for the reason as well. I said to see my fiancee and he didn't say anything else after that.
