Consequences of not denunciating Indian citizenship.

I am debating (not that I would do) but what are consequences of not denunciating Indian Citizenship by NOT taking Surrender Certificate after obtaining US Citizenship. I see that the maximum fine is $1250/ while it takes $175 to take Surrender Certificate and $300 for OCI, a total of $475/-.
 
If you will never travel to India, it won't be a problem. You will not be issued any kind of Indian visa or OCI/PIO card unless you first obtain the renunciation certificate.
 
It depends on your plans. If you want to go to India in future, it would serve you well to RENOUNCE (not DENUNCIATE) your Indian citizenship, because without doing this, you won't be issued a visa. If you wait too long, you'll have to pay a fine on top, and if you decide to use your Indian passport ILLEGALLY, then I really don't know what will happen.
