Consequences of address change!

Hello! Just need some expert input on consequences of an address change between FP and I-485 approval. I got Fingerprinted on 4th May 2004 and my ND is Oct. 2000.
As there have been instances I-485 approval for people with ND of Feb 2000. So I think that my date is still far away that I can make an out of state move without much worry.
Any suggestions?

Lazerthegreat -

I filed an address change directly with Nebraska back in 2002 when I moved, and everything went well. Of course, I had not received FP notice by that time.

It does say on the NSC web site to:

If you move, please notify the Nebraska Service Center by sending a letter or Form AR-11, Change of Address Form, to:

USCIS Nebraska Service Center
P.O. Box 87865
Lincoln, NE 68508-7865

You must also send an AR-11 to the address listed on the form to meet your legal requirements for reporting a change of address.

Be sure to include your case receipt number or A-number. Please note that only address changes will be processed at this address.

I must admit, I like the fact that they have a PO Box set up specifically for address changes. If you do decide to submit a Form AR-11, I would recommend including a copy of your NSC I-485 receipt for their reference. And I know this may sound crazy, but I would send the address change request using USPS tracking for proof.

This is my 2cents...lets wait to see what others say.

I would also make a follow up call (2 weeks or so, after mailing) to make sure that they have entered the new address into the electronic system.

Correction, AR 11 should be mailed to London KY, address should be on the AR 11 form, also call the 800 number AFETR you move for change of address, and you should received a letter within 30days.

Sam33 -

Yes, one must mail the AR-11 form to KY as part of the legal requirement for non-citizens to report change of address within 10 days of moving.

In this case, Lazerthegreat must also send the form to Nebraska so they can update his pending I-485 application. This is entirely different than the legal requirement, and NSC has set up a separate PO Box for address changes pertaining to applicants who have applications pending at the service center.

Hope this makes sense.

I would just make sure to sign up for e-mail notification. I remember some postiings from earlier this year (2004, still :) )where people would send in the form and still some things would be sent to their old address. And of course, since it all comes in unmarked tiny envelopes that look like credit card offers, you really want to get that e-mail when time comes. Good luck!
My RD is the same!

Good point ExpressJoy!

The e-mail notification tool is definitely to our advantage. I would recommend anyone who has a case pending at a service center to sign-up. I believe you even have the option of printing out the notice - so incase it gets sent to the wrong address...you can still attend a FP or something.

How?

Hi Lolali,
Could you tell us how can we print a notice from the web-site in case it get sent to the wrong address? I really didn't know we can do that? If that is the case, that is really great.
Thanks

Hi Punjabi_Munda -

From your portfolio, you would need to:

1. Click on the receipt number (like you normally do) to view the notice
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and locate the Printer Friendly Case Status button
3. Click on that button and a PDF and printable version of the receipt will be displayed in a new internet browser window.
4. Click on the print button on your internet browser and you're done!

Note: You will need to have a copy of Adobe Reader installed on the PC you are using. A free copy of this software is available and to download, just click on the icon provided on the USCIS page.

Let me know if you have any questions.
