Hey guys..
am I right in saying that 485 is filed on behalf of the applicant and not the sponsering company and the applicant need not be working for the sponsering company while the 485 is in progress ( Assuming that the company does not withdraw the applicants 140 which is the basis for 485 )?
Is there any formal rule/law which states that I should be working full time for the sponsering company for 180 days after filing for 485 to take advantage of the new 180 day rule? or can I work for other company full time using my EAD card ( assuming my sponsering company does not withdraw my 140) and my GC process can still go on smoothly?

 Thanks

You HAVE to be working for the company that is sponsoring your I485 for at least 180 days from the I485 Receipt Date (some say it is ND, find out from your lawyer). The reason is, Employment Based (EB) I485 applications require Employment with the company that is sponsoring it.

This is my opinion and not the TRUTH. Check with an immigration lawyer.

Things are confusing as long as the INS does not release the guidelines.....so hang in there. Even I want to change in another 2-3 months as soon as my 180 days are over bit will like to wait and watch before I do that
