Confused after infopass namecheck inquiry

I am leaving on an overseas assignment for about 3 months in Jan, so I did the infopass today at the Minneapolis/St.Paul DO to see where things were.
I got the usual spiel, you are still in background check, it will take anything from a couple of months to 2 years. And then the IO tells me, the good thing is that you have completed 1 year so it's probably just another year. I tell her I am honored and try to make my exit, when she tells me: You know what, it looks like your file has been touched on Dec 1st. I ask her, are you sure it's Dec this year and she says yes, but I don't know what the activity was, all I can say is that there was some activity on your file on Dec 1st.
So now, I am even more confused, do I leave and risk having to rush back if I get the interview letter (my friend will be monitoring the mailbox) or not leave at all.

Try calling the 1-800 number to speak with an IO to see if they can give you more info. Some IOs are willing to big deeper into things to get a more accurate case status.
Worst case scenario is that you get IL while you're on assignment and send them a notice asking them to reschedule it.

Thanks Bobsmyth. I called the CS number. It looks like the reps are on to us or something. When I lied that I didn't get the receipt # and needed to talk to IO, I was asked if it was really that or I needed to inquire about my case, because they were specifically going to tell the IO that I did not get the receipt # and needed to inquire. I bluffed again, saying that I did not get my receipt. Then I was told if the check was cashed, the receipt number will be on the returned check, please look at that first. I hung up and called again and this time got to speak to an IO. He was a bit more helpful. He said: you had called on Dec 11th and a service request was opened, an officer had been assigned to look into your file on Dec 17th. You should hear from St.Paul DO in 45 days explaining the cause for delay. So that's that for now.

Strange that the rep would tell you such a thing since the IOs are there to answer the questions the reps can't..also, the reps never warm transfer the call so it sounds like the first rep was messing with you.
They do have the service requests on record, but that shouldn't stop them from giving you info in the mean time. In fact, I had opened a similar service request and still called in the mean time.
The way I see it, if they would just give accurate information to begin with , applicants wouldn't have to call him multiple times to get the right answer.
