Confused about DV2026 results and case number meaning

This is my first time applying for the DV Lottery 2026, and I had a few questions I hoped someone could help me with. I submitted my entry on time and kept the confirmation number safe. Now that the results are coming soon, I’m not sure what exactly to expect.

If I’m selected, will my case number decide when I get called for the interview? Also, do higher numbers mean lower chances of actually getting the visa even if selected?I read a few things online, but there’s a lot of mixed information. I’d really appreciate if anyone could explain how the process works step by step after the selection.

Not sure what you mean by “now that the results are coming soon”. DV 2026 results already came out back in May and selected candidates are already being interviewed as of October (over a month ago). So if you applied for DV2026, your next step right now is to check and see if you’re selected or not. If you find out you’ve been selected, you may return to ask your questions on how to proceed/how the process works.
 
Good evening, I have a question. I am in Africa and my DV-2026 file number is in series 58000. I would like to know if I have a good chance of receiving the second email, because I was led to believe that I can change to "current" status, but that my application will not be processed.
