Is the approval of the EAD dependant upon Finger Prints/Biometrics? In other words, do you have to complete your FP/Bio before you can receive the EAD?

The postings on this website are conflicting. I have been following them closely and they don’t seem to match.

Please advise. Thank you in advance for your time.

Well on my EAD, they have used the picture & FP that they have taken during my FP & Biometric. So I believe you have to complete FP/Bio before you receive EAD.

again, this doesnt make sense

My AP has my picture on it too. But it is the one that I sent to them along with my package of I-485, I-130, etc.

So I am still confused...it lookes like the CIS did something with my EAD because of hte timestamp on it but Idont know if they are waiting for my BIO/FP...

If you don`t go for FP/Bio you want receive the EAD

Usualy you must provide your FP /BIO before they can approuve your work permit if you didn`t do it yet i suggest you to do so in the very earlier time because if they don`t receive you fingerprints your case could be denied ....
call to schedule an appointement or just walkin at your local service center to have that done .

My AP has the picture that I sent with my appliction. So for AP they use that one but for EAD they use the one they take it during Bio. But if you have passed 90 days from your receipt Notice then I would suggest you to visit your local DO and get the intrim one.

When you received your Notice of Action (NOA) for your different applications on your package they notified you about making an appointment for FP and Bio. You have to make the appointment, some ASC depend on the State permits walk-ins some not. After that they have to make your background check and then you get the approval of your EAD.

At the beginning I was like that, kind of confusing because some people said that they received by mail the appointment notification without calling the Customer Service, and I had to call, and then yesterday the Customer Service told me that I am not going to received anything else on the mail until I got my FP and bio done, I have to go with the confirmation number of the appointment and all my papers to the ASC.

And that one of the pictures that you sent with all your papers will be use in the EAD, which I regret in my case cause that day it was soo windy and my hair was horrible! :p

The patience be with you all,
good luck,

Oh the other thing I realize that apparently depends on which type of your application is family based of who, type of visa of your spouse or something like that. Because apparently for others is different??? my case is married to a USC.

Ur answer

To clear your confustion:
For family based c9 category ( married spouse of us citizen ), YES you need to have your BIO done before you RECEIVE your EAD. You might try to get a n interim EAD without BIO if the 90 days have passed from your Received date.
For some employment based EAD you receive the appointment letter. For family based EAD YOU have to CALL AND SCHEDULE YOUR own appointment which is usually always booked for 42 days. Try walk in or other ASC in a different state if you are in a hurry.
thank you
