Conditions for an E2 Specialist

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to find what the conditions are in order to apply for an E2 specialist visa. The compa,y that employs me currently would be my sponsor in the US.

Also, what is the usual delay to get such a visa? I've read that it was between 4-6 weeks but I'd like to be sure.

Varies hugely depending on the country of your domicile. Where would you be applying for your E2?
 
I'd be applying from France.

FYI, I have been working in the company that will be sponsoring me for a little bit over 1.5 yrs (1.5 yrs in the US under a J1 and 3-4 months in France).

I believe what you are saying is that you worked for 1.5 years for the Company in the U.S. pursuant to a J-1 visa and now you are working for the same Company in France for the past 3-4 months. If this is the case then you would not qualify for the L-1 visa.

In my opinion, the E2 visa is the better visa to have anyways. Typically France takes about 6 weeks to process the application. Assuming everything is in order, they will then call you to set up an interview which can take another few weeks. I would give it a good 3 months just to be on the safe side. Of course it can take longer depending on the number of applications they are currently processing.
