Conditional residency status/get work permit

If spouse is in conditional permanent residency status......and there
are problems.....can he or she obtain a "work permit" from their place
of employment? It seems to me...that if the CPR status...is pending...
and you "change boats" in midstream.....and ask for a "work permit'....
this would cause alot of questions and problems. I think this would
"raise flags" not only in the public (state government workplace) but in
private business too...... Is this a correct assumption? Actually, I don't
think it could be done...but I am not sure. Any opinions on this?

Conditional permanent residence status meaning they have received the "green card", but have yet to remove the 2-year restriction on it?

Yes, I know what the conditional residency status is...and it is for two
years......but I want to know....can a person "who is in this status"
also obtain a "work permit" thru work ...at the same time? In other
words, if the conditional residency status changes or falls thru....can
they get a work permit? Reasoning this out... i think if you are in one
type of status, you can't change in mid-stream..... just curious.

No. Green card holder (temporary/permanent) is not required/eligible for work authorization.

Looks like you are getting into issues with USC spouse and that may you affect negatively in your effort to remove condition. I will suggest you to talk to attorney.

GC through USC spouse is easy to get, if things are smooth. But it can also bring lots of pain if things are going south.

I am the wife and the us citizen. Spouse is in the conditional residency
status......things could be better.... but he has made the statement....
that "I can quit (cond. residency status)...and go and get a work
permit at work....... I think this is a rash statement...and that he does
not know what he is talking about....... especially if one is working for
state government...... people to work are a dime a dozen....and the work
place would probably not want to go thru the hassle of obtaining a work
permit..... this is how I think it.......i'm not sure what he is thinking....
maybe "that his marriage and cond. residency status just isn't needed"....
who knows........ I do think "he's just blowing and doesn't know what
he's talking about." He needs the US wife until conditions are removed
and citizenship is gotten.......

Conditional residency status/get work permit...

YEs, getting a GC thru marriage is easy.....but the couple has to be
committed to each other....... (not just 1 committed) it takes 2 to tango....
I just think if "he changes boats in mid-stream, this ain't a good idea"...

he can try to get work visa-status (H1B) through his work place, but it's difficult to do. Plus, he will be abandoning his GC status, since H1B visa is a non-immigrant visa. So, if he leaves you now, before removing conditions -- he is pretty much out of luck. After the divorce he can apply to remove conditions on his own, but he has to prove that the marriage was entered into in good faith (not for immigration purposes) and/or that he was abused in the marriage.
