concern about GC - applying for naturalization soon

Hi friends,

I will be completing 5 yrs as LPR and would be eligible for naturalization in a couple of months.

I read some posts on this forum and feel nervous about GC sponsor/employment.

Here is my question: While my I-485 was pending and after I received my employment authorization (EAD) my employer (a consulting firm), put me on board with the client (say 'X') I was working for, as client's fulltime employee.
Eventually I received my GC and I continued to work for 'X' for until 2 years later. I travelled to my home country (India) 2 years after I received my GC and returned to the US in about 4 weeks, I was never asked any employment related questions etc.

My concern is: I did not work for employer who sponsored my GC a few months after receiving my EAD.
Would that be a problem?

thanks much in advance.

Thx Bobsmyth!
I worked for my employers client on EAD. My employer was consulting firm and they put me on project with this client. After I recieved my EAD (a few months later) my employer took a one time fee and placed me fulltime at the client I was already working for. And I continued to work there for almost 3 years. A year before I received my GC and 2 years after I received my GC.

My concern is: I did not work for employer who sponsored my GC a few months after receiving my EAD.
Did you work for the original sponsor before you got your EAD? Including the time while the I-485 was pending before EAD approval? Or before filing the I-485?

It is not mandatory to work for them while the I-485 is pending, but if you actually did work for them that makes it easier to prove that the I-140/I-485 wasn't filed for a fake job. And your change of employer would be covered by AC21, even if it was done before 180 days of pending I-485 ... because the sponsor didn't revoke the I-140.

thanks Jackolantern.
I am sorry may be I did not understand Bobsmyth's question earlier. Yes I did work for the employer who sponsored my GC all the time (since I entered the US) until they put me at one of their clients as fulltime. So yes I did work for original employer. Will I be okay then, you think?
Thanks so much!

You are fine and protected under AC-21. You do not have to prove any thing. All they need is last five year employment history. If there was a problem it should have come while getting the green card.

However, sometimes they do investigate further. See http://forums.immigration.com/showthread.php?t=294697

Still, I agree that in this case [the case in the first post of this thread, not the case I just linked to] the OP is fine. The original job was a real job, the job change was initiated by the client who paid off the sponsoring employer, and AC21 portability is applicable.

Questions might be
Is he from pre-AC21 days?
why that guy did not say he was using AC-21? was it CP case?

Sorry I did not see the replies to my posting after I replied to Number30's answer.
Number30.
1. No it is not from pre AC12 days, my GC got approved in 2004.
2. I did not file AC21 because the legal dept at our employer said I don't need to unless I get RFE etc. And new employer hiring me was with my original employer's (who sponsored me) consent.
3. It was regular process in Vermont center not CP (assuming CP -> consular processing).

I hope my case is still straight forward and okay. Thanks for your help everyone!
