I\'m going to be heading to work for a US employer in the software industry soon.
I\'m Canadian, and am being hired on a contract basis of 6-12 months, and the job will need to be filled almost immediately, thus I can\'t wait months to drag by in the immigration process.
As such, I\'ve been looking at the TN visa to get me into the US to perform this job.
Anyone out there have any information on this visa? Is it even the best one for my situation? High-tech workers are in high demand in the states, is there any industry specific visa for this group?
Most of my knowledge is gleaned through work experience, and my own study. I\'ve got certification with some technical aspects, and did 2 years of college with no completed diploma, in an unrelated field, but have extensive technical knowledge, particularly in programming.
I don\'t have three years industry experience, (only 2, plus 2 years incomplete college) but I obviously have plenty of skills. I\'m just not sure if a Border Guard would turn me away due to the work experience and/or diploma issues, even though I\'m being hired for my programming knowledge.
If anyone out there can help, PLEASE reply to this post, or send me an email to ffaffa@hotmail.com
