Complicated mess

First of all, allow me to apologize for my ignorance on all of this imigration stuff but I have a complicated question, well a few I guess.

Here is the story. I have a friend who is in the US, 24 years old, and has finished his MBA and is looking for a pilot position at an airline currently. He has his green card through his parents who live in Canada, who applied, we think through the investment process, but neither of us are sure. Things are getting ugly between his parents and him and he fears that they will move back to Canada and forget their green card altogether.

The question is: If his parents move back to Canada, will he lose his green card and/or be affected in any way? Even if they call the INS to inform them of their decision? Also, what will he have to do to maintain his green card and status so that he wont end up losing it? Should we get a attorney to look at this closer?

Thanks for all your help,

if his parents live in Canada, they lost their GCs already. If they stayed outside the States for more than a year without a reentry permit, they lost their GCs already.

He doesn't lose his GC just because his parents do.

he needs to stay, live and work in the States, if he wants to keep his GC. He can travel overseas though, shortly.

Okay...

Okay, well his parents visit him and his brother here in the states regularly... But their GC's dont matter then right? If they lose them, its their loss, they cant take his away then? Great, thanks for your post. It really helps!!
