Company spin-off; Applying for I-485.. do I need to file I-140 amendment?

Hi,
My I-140 has just been approved. Getting ready for 485. My company is spinning us off on Jan 2 2002. What needs to be done now? Do I need an amendment for the I140? Will I still need an amendment if I send out the 485 application before the company is spun off?

    One other question... Can a spouse be added to the 485 application after it has been sent to INS?

    Any information you can provide would be very helpful.
