Company Name Change..........

Hi All

I want to know that if the company name got changed within 180 days of you I-485 application. There is any thing I have to do? Because my company name got changed on July 1st week but as per the notice date my 180 days will fulfill on July 30th of this year.

Another thing I want to know that if your lob our and I-140 is in different location and you filled your I-485 in different location then there will any delay. Because my lob our cleared at NJ and I-140 from Vermont center. Due to company move me to OH. So they filled my I-485 in Nebraska center. But I'm finding at rupnet that people are getting FP notice after me also. But I am still at same position that it will take 390 days to 420 days.

Any comment.

Name change

A company name change can be a complex transaction.
If the Federal Tax ID does not change, nothing is required. However, if the name change is due to a merger or an acquisition, typically an I-140 amendment is required.
It's your call whether to go ahead or not. Some attorneys may feel it to be the safer option. Others might say it's worth the risk to take advantage of AC21.

Remember that in the absence of final AC21 regulations from the INS, the widely accepted interpretation of the 180 day rule is that you are allowed a job change if your case takes more than 180 days NOT that you have to wait 180 days to make a job change. So if it has been over 180 days since your I-485 was filed, regardless of when you changed your employer, it would not matter.
