Dear All,

My details are as follows:India, EB1, RD 8/15/00, ND 9/15/00, FP 11/28/00

My company name changed after my I-140 was approved and hence have a different company name for my I-485. I spoke to my lawyer (who I pay $200 an hour - no kidding!!) and her Paralegal asst. returned my email which I have reproduced below. Hope this helps.

------
Poorna Vijay, I spoke with (lawyer\'s name) about your inquiry and she asked me to inform you that the change in your employer\'s name should not affect the processing of your I-485 application. The name change was well documented with the INS when your application was submitted (it was mentioned both in (lawyer\'s name)\'s cover letter and in the letter from your employer) and, most importantly, the tax identification number did not change. Since the tax id number remained the same, there is no material change that would impact your application. This is true regardless of the EB category, and yes - you (not your employer) are the applicant. Regards.5/16/01.

Yes, Even my lawyer tells me the same thing. Since the Tax id is same it shouldn\'t matter. But bottomline is my app is on hold.

No Title

YES. EVERY ONE SAYS THE SAME THING. INS NEITHER TELL ANYTHING NOR DO ANY THING.

EACH CASE IS PROCESSED, DIFFERENTLY,
EACH OFFICER PROCESSES DIFFERENTLY.
EACH DAY THE PROCESSING NORMS ARE DIFFERENT.
FOR PERSON FROM EACH CITY THE NORMS ARE DIFFERENT.
FOR EACH SERVICE CENTRE THE PROCESSING NORMS ARE DIFFERENT.
FOR EACH MONTH OF FILING, THE PROCESSING PROCEDURES ARE DIFFERENT. FOR EACH WEEK OF THE DAY THE PROCESSING TACTICS ARE DIFFERENT.

SO, DON\'T TAKE YOUR LAWYER\'S WORD\'S FOR GRANTED.
