I guess it is useless and waste of time to call IIO and ask about your case as chances of getting correct answer are very very slim. I haven't call IIO before but by looking at some posts here I am guessing that most of the time it is a bad experience as IIOs are rude and treat us as dirt. So unless and until your case is really delayed ( like people with june,july or august RDs) or you have things like address change, it is just waste of time (and frustrating) to call IIO to check whether your case is assigned or not.
