Hi everyone,
I am ready to submit our AOS application as a family but i read it somewhere that color copies of passport pages and/or drivers license are required for the I-485. Is this true?
my home printer produces only black printouts and I thought black and white copies are okay for submission.
Any input is appreciated.:)

Color Copies

Actually my attorney told me that the first page which has the photo and and demographic information should be in color. So I took 3 color copies of the first page and all the other pages I submitted black and white.

Yep, the color copies are needed, I believe...

I would say go to Staples...they have like a special or something 39c color copies...
I heard Kinko's won't let you take color copies of Passport or License....unless you go for some magnification like 120%...or so...to avoid fraud/misuse...

Black and white copies are just fine

I dont think color copies are needed as long as the copies(b &w) are legible.

Look at the link for general guidelines

Guys,

Color copies not needed, I've got 3 EAD's and AP's so far, never had issue with the b/w's.

Good Luck!! this is what we need more in all our "processing" journey, never know when it ends.:)

Lawyer mentioned that with color copies there are less chances of RFE's. So I went to Kinkos to get it done. Intially they did not allow me to do it because you cannot make a copy of an official document. I went the next week and told them that I needed to make some color copies by myself. They just directed me to a color copying machine and I took them.

Thanks.

I had the same experience with Kinko's ... they say they won't do a color copy of government documents, but you can do them yourself. They must have gotten in trouble in the past.

As far as whether the color copies of the passport are necessary, the lawyer said I only needed to make color copies of the pages where my name and picture are located; black and white for all the other pages. I didn't send a copy of my driver's license.
