MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- More than a million people who want to vote in November's general election probably won't get the chance because of a delay in processing applications to become U.S. citizens, according to the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.....................

I can see that very well happen. I really wanted to vote because of more of a "personal" reason but if nothing happens it won't happen. :(

It's puzzling that we are seeing some people, on this message board, who filed as late as July 07, getting interview appointments. Perhaps they are the exception, but I feel things are not going to turn out quite as dismal as they are being painted.

The key is in the wording USCIS has chosen. "May take approximately 16-18 months to process". We have seen the discrepancy of processing times between DOs, so it's quite possible that some DOs make take this long to process cases.
