In the past I have contributed to organisations like PETA. Does that make me a member of that organisation and do I have to mention it?

Can any issues be raised considering PETA does some crazy acts sometimes?

You have to ask them that. Although it seems unlikely that you are an actual member, you might double check. If you simply contribute, I don't think you are a member, e.g., lots of people give to the Red Cross-that does not make them members.
 
my list included such anti esatablishment groups :) as PETA,Amensty International, national resources defense council, greenpeace, audobon soceity, southern center for human rights,MENSA and others.
I got citzenship without any difficulty or any questions on that section , although the examiner looked through the list.
