Class of Admission Clarifications by a LAWYER

Ok talked to my lawyer. Here is what he said. Class of Admission is always Asylees for us folks. COA as immigration refers to indicates prior immigration status before LPR was achieved(if you have LPR).

When you were granted Asylum, you were "admitted" again and given a new I-94. That is your class of admission and DATE. The I-94 is a legal document that validates your Class as being asylee and date. Thats why they give you the I-94.

If you entered U.S on a visitors visa and were granted Asylum, Your class of Admission is Asylee with the date you got your I-94.

I hope this clears up things. In summary, a new I-94 always replaces the old one(if you got one before applying for asylum), so every asylee got a I-94 when they got approved, their class is Asylee.

Hope this helps.

Wantmygcnow,I not sure about this.Ok,if you entered the US with a visitor visa and got a PR status as a result of marriage. Now you want to apply for a Reentry Permit, what's gonna be your class of admission?
As you see far away,Asylees used to go the Immigration judge for a GC interview.Judges used to issue a stamp in a Passport or,a white card to people whith no passport, which used to be a kind of I-94.It's not this a sort of new admission which means chage of status from asylee to PR?

Cadel, If you entered U.S on a visitor visa and got a PR status, you should have received an updated I-94 like every other case. the class is LPR then.

Asylees are different case all together. From waht I remember the process of granting asylum hasn't been differnt previously or now. You still get a I-94 issued like before...What are you confused about? Change of status from Asylee to PR is a through I-485 adjustment and I-94 never comes into play..

Once and for all, lets end this confusion.
I received my RTD, few days back. When I file on line (I 131) I left Class of admission blank, I have prints out of my application to prove it.
On my RTD uscis put down class of admission "Permanant Resident".

Before on my blue color RTD class of admission was "Asylee".
what's up with this ugly green color RTD.

Does anyone know? what does Type/ Categorie "TP" means on RTD.

I was away for few days, reading other threads, I notice wantmygcard also explained the same theory.

I think TP stands for travel permit. By the way only once on 2000 I applied for RTD & received that for a year. Yes on that RTD class was asylee.
What do they put permanent resident now on that spot? And the color is no longer blue but green. Is that right ?? I have no idea about that like I said applied once only but never even used it.
By the way right after granted asylum I was given a I-94 but some how I misplaced it & can't find that anywhere. What do you think that could be any problem? I asked my lawer she replied don't worry you are fine. As long as you have that asylum granting letter from IJ you should be fine.

I lost that I-94. Do you think I should worry about this? I asked my lawer once she said don't worry you are OK. As long you have the granting letter from IJ you don't have to worry about that I-94 thing.
What's your knowledgable comment on this ?

You can request a new one from the USCIS...or if you travel and come back you will get a new one...

TP is TEMPORARY!

Thanks

No plan for travel till get my GC. So what do u think should I be worried for that I-94 lost deal? How can u ask that to USCIS to re issue u another one? Is there any form to fill out for that ? If so could u please inform me that? Is there any fees associated with that request?
Thanks again for your reply.

You will have to fill out I-102 for lost I-94. The fee is $155. If you have a photo copy send it alongwith the evidence +form.

Thanks.
