Clarification before the Interview

I would just like to ask for few clarification before the big day!!!
1) should we indicate the case number on the documents? the photocopies?? upper or lower side of the document?
2) Should we sign the passport photos and indicate the case numbers??? (2 of them right??)
3) Incase one of the document like the High School diploma you dont have the original but photocopy is it okay?? i have higher college diplomas and degrees originals but missing high school cert original but have photocopy.. is that a problem?
4) Which documents should we make photocopies for? i think you do not need to make photocopies for the passport papers?
Thanks much for your help in advance.

You didn't mention if you were doing AOS or CP. I did AOS, and here is what i can tell you

1. For copies, the answer is no. If you fill the form and you need more space for explaination, than you need to write down the Case number (no specific location, but to be safe put on the top and bottom of the page)

2. You don't sign the passport photos. You write down your name, case number, and your A# (if any) using pencil. Don't press to hard when writing so it won't mark the other side

3. Not sure what the USCIS officer will say about no original HS diploma, but definetely you want to make copies of your college degrees

4. General thumb would be every form and all supplemental docs you submit to USCIS. Never assume USCIS (or Consulate) has your copies ready. Do your diligent and you would have smooth interview.

Good luck!

Doing CP.. thanks much for your replies.

This is what you need.

1.) Originals of ALL required documents

2.) If you have completed college/university (and recieved a degree/certificate), then there is NO NEED to worry about high school paperwork. High school documentation is only needed if that is the highest level of education attained.

again...Make copies of the relevant pages of the passports (obviously not all pages that have been stamped)...simply the identification page.

Since you seem unsure of basic things mentioned in the 2nd NL, I will advice you to get about 30 folders (Yeah, I know...30??). Label each folder with it's contents i.e. passport, educ certificates, birth cert, marriage cert, police cert...etc

Then make another set of the same noted folders, and then here's the key part. Make a complete "package" for the principal applicant (the winner) and keep that aside. Repeat the process for each dependent i.e. spouse & kids.

Have the principal's document separate from everyone else and remember to make another copy of marriage certificate for the spouse's folder.

When u show up for the interview, the principal applicant will be called alone first...and you will go through a process of being requested each item (one-by-one) and since you will be "very organized", it should be easy to locate what you are being asked to provide.

The next step will be to provide your spouse's documents, repeat the process again, and finally for whatever number of dependents you may have.

I know i've said alot and some areas may seem trivial, but consider the interview as a one-shot chance to get it right, otherwise you will be sent back to get the right papers, and by the time you come back, the visa numbers have all been taken...and that would be unforgivable in my mind...good luck

Thanks so much for your advise.. I will follow your advise as it will make my work easy... I am glad i dont have to worry about the high school original diploma as i have achieved higher degrees and i have the originals. I will just have a certified copy of high school diploma to be on the safe side. Again thanks so much....
