Civil documents translation

Hi guys,

Has anyone done a translation of original documents by themselves? I happen to have documents like Birth certificate and elementary / secondary education certificates in a language not quite common where I live.

So my question is if I translate them myself and put my name as the one who translated them, and have the papers notarized, will they still be acceptable?

Translation Requirements

All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the:

Translation is accurate, and,
Translator is competent to translate.


Anyone with similar experience? and how you have resolved that?

All your documents e.g. educational documents, birth certificate, police certificate etc, if not in English, must be translated into English. These documents must also be attested(verfied) by your country's foreign ministry. Now it depends on your foreign ministry whether they recognize your English translation and attest it or not. Foreign ministries of countries normally have their own certified translators. That's all that I know, wait for further replies.

You must be competent to translate, are you? Do you have qualifications in translation? If not, go to a competent authority eg foreign affairs or to the language department of a state university. There are qualified translators there.
 
Translation requirments

- it does not need translation if these are submitted in the official language n which visa application is made
 
Translation is a must!

I just checked - documents must be translated (in Bosnia we need a certified court interpreter for this job, who will put his stamp, that means that translated documents are certified). No need to translate medical results from the medical check and the passport, everything else - yes
