Citizenships Interview - Birth certificate ???

Hi,

I have read varoius threads in the forum and all of them ask you to take your birth certficate for the US citizenship interview.

I already have green card. During thr green card process I had got Birth certificate affidavit for Indian court (as I did not have original) and submitted it in original to the authorties. I had made the copies of the affidavit.

Now in Citizenship interview can I show them this copy of affidavit ? Will they accept it ? My passport and green card also have the same date....

What should I do ????

Thanks in advance

Can you post the links to some of those various threads? I agree with boatbod that birth certificate is not part of the documents required for the interview. I don't recall reading about this requirement and I have read quite a few interview experiences threads. I would be interested in the threads where you have read this information.

I'll update myself. Here is one of those threads:
http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=197782&highlight=interview+birth+certificate

However, despite what it says I don't recall a interview experience mentioning the birth certificate. I think many of the documents mentioned here are overkill. However, if someone has a lot of time on their hands and really, really don't want to waste any time in the process they might try to get all the documents listed.

Ok, I stand corrected, this thread mentions an actual case of asking for birth certificate:

I still think it is overkill, unless the spelling of the name is difficult or there could be any doubts of how to spell the name.

Generally you are not asked for your birth certificate during you Naturalization process. It may be asked if you have had a name change. I am curious as to why you submitted your original to the authorities. Which authorities. I too have affidavits and I have never submitted the original to any authorities. Only photocopies. NEVER submit originals.

I wasn't asked for my BC during my N-400 interview. However I was carrying my (and my wife's ) original BC. You never know when an officer may demand it.
