checking in after a long gap. Hope you all doing great. Question now...how long should you wait before applying for a Citizenship? My Conditional GC was granted on 9/22/07. Can i apply for Citizenship next month ?

Thanks for your reply

I guess you can apply up to 90 days before the 3 year Anniversary ? but i have seen folks applying before 100 days earlier...wouldn't that cause issues? Please reply

I presume you obtain your GC based on marriage (still ongoing) to a USC, am I correct?

It's 90-days (not 3 months) before the expiration of your card. Seriously, if you've been waiting since 2007, is it too hard to wait for 10 extra days and apply 90-days ahead instead of 100?

just be on the safe side..

Thanks for the reply. But my card expire in 2017...i think you meant to say 90 days before the 3rd anniversary. 10 day waiting is no big deal, i am trying to understand what the rules is since some experienced folks like PraetorianXI and others were applying earlier...wouldn't that cause issues?

No, it's 90 days before the 3-year GC anniversary, assuming that on that day there will be 3 full years of marriage to a USC (the 90-day headstart does not apply to the years of marriage).

Where do you know of any successful cases where the person applied 100 days before the 3 year anniversary? Or any that are still pending?

Maybe you misinterpreted what they were saying. They probably meant they were applying 10 days LATER than the 90-day mark. Applying a bit later than 90 day mark has a couple of advantages: it decreases the chances of being interviewed before the 3-year/5-year GC anniversary (an interview before the anniversary usually results in "decision cannot be made", with a risk of associated delays), and decreases the chances of USCIS rejecting the application before the interview because they miscounted the 90-day mark by 1 or 2 days.
