Thnx, Seems like long way to ggo for us, recived GC last month only backdated to 1 year :)

You are correct Joe, and we are aware of this law. All I was trying to say was we still have long wait (3years and 9 months, after considering 1 year backdate on GC) before we can apply for Ctznsp.

Cheers :)

Jatt,

Have you heard back from the USCIS about your citizenship?

I have Interview schedule for next week I'l post my experience and result.
Wish me luck.

The very best of luck!

Could you please tell us if you have renewed your NP while you were an asylee or after receiving your GC. Also, have been to COP after your LPR status? These questions are the most asked on the Asylum Portal and people are posting all kinds of opposing answers. It would be great to share with us. Thanks for all your feedback.

ma1231 Thanks for the wish.
I have been reading asylum portal from a long time,I'm aware of the issues are most concern to people, but I can'nt shed any light because I never renewd my NP, never traveled to COP, but my family which were deriative asylees traveled to COP after getting their GCs, I think they shouldn't have any problems later on, I think my case is pretty straightforwrd. I know lot of people traveled to their COP and got their naturalization without any problems . Visiting to COP and Renewing NP is a beat up issue I remember 6 years ago this issue was very hot in this forum but people's views are same as they were 6 yrs ago so what I want to say is it depends person to person and that person's emergency situation. We had lot of discussions but no conclusion. Threads were open and closed . This issue is based on common sense if u think it's right to do it then do it, if not then don't do it, because it 'll you who 'll answer or convince the IO at the interview if the question arise at time of N-400 interview.
Good Luck everybody for your immigration journey.

Hello jattindc1,

Thank you so very much for your detailed prompt reply; I really apprecaite it. We will wait to hear from you after your interview next week. Best of luck again, your very very long journey with the INS will finally come to a happy ending.

ma1231, I had my interview on 04/19/2006 interview was very smooth all the questions were asked from the application basically verbaly verification of what you filled.I did not get the oath because of pending background check other than thatIo told me evrything is copmlete in your application and now wait for background check to complete from Fbi, it canh take from 2 weaks to 2 years.I'll wait for 120 days rule to kick-in.

Hello Jattindc1:

Congrats! Hope your background check will be over soon. Does everyone get their background checked after the interview or does the INS also -in some instances- check before the interview? What is the 120 days rule?

Thanks for all your help. One more step to go and you will be finally FREE! I'm sure it feels great; ENJOY!

IO told me everybody applying for naturalization have to go through the background checks with Fbi before the interview but these days if your background check is not completed at the time of interview they still interview an applicant but will not make dicision till background check is completed.
120 rule is you can sue USCIS, FBI and other agencies involve in the process.you can educate yourself with this linkhttp://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=194681
Thanks for the good wishes.

jattindc1: one more question please: did the issue of visiting COP ever come up in your interview. Did the IO ask you about that? You mentioned that your family has been to COP; did that come up in their interviews. Thanks

I guess COP and visiting COP isn't an issue after all during citizenship interview. People on the asylum board killing each other for nothing :> Thanks for sharing Jatt bhai.

-me

Noman, one example is never enough to say "it is not an issue". Plus the poster had stated before that he did not visit his COP so of course there were no questions about it. I would like to hear from someone (primary aplicant) who visited their COP and had their citizenship interview.

Thanks Jatt.
