Hi all,
As I promised to WantMyGcNow that as soon as I apply for my citizenship, I will create this thread to help other find a way to their process and I hope it will be helpful.
90 days prior to complete your 5 years since the date on your GreenCard (Resident Since date), you will be eligible to apply form N-400 to get your Citizenship. You can find the form at: http://www.uscis.gov/n-400
and you can also find the instruction for N-400 very down on the page mentioned above.
If you have gained your LPR status through your Refugee/Asylum status and you are applying for your citizenship based on that, you should have an easy time filling up the application. Currently there are 10 pages and the only pages which might consume a lot of time from you are, page 3 and 4 because you have to calculate all the times you were outside of the US and all you addresses for the last five years and so on.
After you are done filling the application, you will send it along with a Check, copy of your Greencard (front & back) and two recent photos (2x2 in.) to one of the Service Centers having jurisdiction over your place of residence.
Most important parts of this process are:
- Make sure you are registered with Selective Service if you were/are living in the US between age of 18 to 26(25). Please refer to these websites for more info:
http://www.sss.gov/FSwho.htm
Make sure you update you info for new address with them at:
https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfAddressChange.aspx
- If you have received a ticket more than $500 you have to report it.
I hope you all get it very soon and I will update these infos. regularly.
Thank you
