Citizenship question

Hi, My husband is planning to apply for US citizenship. He has an arrest history a couple of years back owing to the charges of his avenging ex-girlfriend. He spent one night in jail and the case was later dismissed as a "simple assault" with 'no paper' process. We are wondering if it would have any implications on his citizenship approval and carries any amount of risk in future. Is it a better idea to drop the whole idea for now? Other than this, he does not have a spec on his conduct. He is a little anxious about the whole issue and I would appreciate any kind of insight into the case from you experienced people. Thank you very much.

He should not have any problem. Just keep all the documents related to the arrest, dismissal ready at the time of the interview. Do not forget to mention this incident on N400 form as his FP result would show it. If you fail to mention it, then you will be inviting trouble.

i would suggest you to hold on and make sure he has a clean record till it is 5 yrs from the case...

Thanks much for the suggestions mpotturi and query11. could you give me the time frame of the application events query11, as i gather that you have already gone through the process? i mean, what process will take how long and the ball park figure for the whole process.

Also I would apprecite a lot if anybody could post a clear list of required documents to be submitted with N400 or later in the process of citizenship application.
