Hi,

Do you guys know how long the process take in Vancouver. I applied in Jan2005 and still waiting....Just got the initial letter...No test scheduled yet.

Please let me know..if you have any idea.

Some people who applied after me already took the test and will be taking the oath soon :(

Thank you

wow that seems like a very long time to be waiting, i applied for mine may 27th and got my first letter june 13th, i recieved my notice to take the test a couple days ago which is oct 26th. im sorry to hear yours is taking so long, i know what its like waiting for it, best of luck to you.

Thank you for your reply....I just hope that people who applied from Vancouver would post...and share thier experiences :)

I sent my application in July 2005. Got my acknowledgement letter in August and I just read on e-cas that my file had been transferred from the CPC to Vancouver (Nov 16th). I am now waiting for the test appt.

What stage are you at currently? You just received your acknowledgement letter? 10 months after filing the application? That's long. Try to call them and complain.

Good Luck

Hi,

Just a quick question.
When was your file transferred from sidney to Van? How long after the transfer did you get your letter for the test?
thanks

timelines vary for a variety of reasons but occasionally are very short. Essentially CIC is checking and they wil procede as soon as they are satisfied your application meets their requirements. Who knows why some people wait longer... My timelie was
Application Oct 21, 2005
Letter and booklet Nov 18
Transfer of File to Vancouver office Jan 2o, 2006
Test date Feb 14, 2006
A friend of mine with seemingly identical credentials applied May 2005 and has not heared anything since receiving the booklet from CIC. Go figure.

Took my oath on February 9th!!!
Applied for passport on Feb 10th and got it on February 17th under express procedure (30$ extra, no questions asked). yeaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!
I am Canadiaaaaaaaaaan!!!

Good luck everyone!

Just a reminder of my timeline:

Application received by CIC : July 26th, 2005
Aknowledgement letter sent on : July 27th
Processing started : October 20th
File transferred to Van: November 16th
Test: December 19th
Oath: february 9th, 2006

O canadaaaaaaaa...

cograts on your citizenship
would you please tell me on test date did the officer check all the stamps on your passport or not?
and also what did they ask you on the test date?
thank you so much

:p

In my case they checked through my passports (including the expired ones) very quickly at check in - the whole process took maybe 15 seconds. I would recommend that you present ALL of the info they ask you to bring and all the documents without them having to request it from you.
The test questions were essentially the same as the ones that you can access on line at public libraries. They are NOT difficult - I think they are simply trying to find out whether you understand English or French well enough to answer basic questions. Just read the book they sent you - it is all you need to know. You have plenty of time to answer the questions. :)
