I have heard that if a GC holder goes in the US
army, he/she could get his/her citizenship in 6 months and should not wait 5 years after the GC aproval. Does anybody know more details?
The President has the authority to waive the 3-year requirement under some circumstances. This is part of the existing legal code and is not something new. This executive order will remain in effect until the President terminates it.
This in fact means that somebody who enlists in the US Armed Forces now can get naturalized without any waiting time, even without being a Permanent Resident.
In order to enlist wouldn't one have to be a permanent resident or an illegal alien? Are legal non-immigrants allowed to enlist? Of couse, if the armed forces were to recruit overseas...
