Citizenship for only one spouse

Well - @ticket counter (POE in US or Canada) they will ask you about entry permit to India and I 'am sure you cannot show India Passport

if you do not travel to India that's different story

I understand. :)

We are just discussing different scenario and in no way suggesting people to convert these discussions into action.

Going back to Question: ” how the Indian government knows that you got US citizenship”

Answer: In my opinion "They won't know" unless someone volunteers that information. But if one tries to travel with Indian passport, there is a good probability s/he may get in trouble. There are just too many rights (and luck) needs to happen for one to travel successfully claiming as an Indian national, and return back to US without facing any issue.

What is " entry permit to India "

Ok I might have used the word wrongly

at POE ( which was in my case)

1) What is your proof of entry to India?
I said Indian passport for me and (PIO and US passport) for my daughter

and she punched in something and gave it back to me

So that explains right?

Ok. I never had to face that line of question.

I was wondering what officers (at US POE) would do if you try to enter with US passport and reply to question faced by "BostonCool" with following answer:

"I entered illegally in other country" :)

They may waste couple of hour in secondary inspection but I guess eventually they have to let US citizen enter.
