Hi there,
is there a time frame for denying an N-400? like after the interview, is there specific amount of days they should reply with denial otherwise they could be working toward approval? any expeience or ideas? thanks

publicus
My time line is as follows:
pd : july 12, 2004
fp : Oct. 20, 2004
Interview notice received Nov. 19, 2004
Interview date : Feb 7, 2005
waiting for oath.
Amishah had her interview on Jan 5 2005 in the same memphis DO and got her letter Monday March 7 2005
Her ceremony is at the Federal Building 15 minutes from my house and i hope i get mine soon!

Did you receive a recommendation at your interview re. your case? Did the Officer said your case was approved?

publicus,
After the 10-minutes typcial interview with no complications or missing documents, the officer told me that i should hear from them withing 6 months, and marked the form i-652 that i have passed the test, she didn't mark anything else!

I don't get your question. You said they told you yo should hear within 6 monhs. Also, according to the timeline of Amishah you still got at least three moe weeks for the oath notification.

Unless you have reason to believe that you have the infamous name-check problem, you should sit down and relax. It looks like your schedule is one to envy.

If you do not get a notice within, say, a whole month, only then should you start raising hell.

Good luck,

Yalag

Sony55, you don't have to wait six months for an oath. The law requires USCIS to reach a decision within 120 days. Sue them.

I had my interview in Feb 2005, but my case was on record with CIS since Nov 2002. I am not waiting one more day. I am filing a suit.

We can chat and help each other during this process.

Sincerely,

then what happens after the 120? the USCIS will tell us the name check in pending , then all we can do is shut up?!! that's not right. the 120 doesn't mean anything to me. they do what they want , they play with our right!!

thanks for the positive reply yalag, but the ceremony is conducted on March 25, i only have 15 days to hear from USCIS before the ceremony! IF i don't hear anything before then, i think maybe something is wrong with the name check, don't you think?

Sony55 - assume nothing, unless USCIS tells you something is pending with your name check. You can make an infopass appt. and talk to an immigration officer if you can....maybe that will move your file for oath. Good luck.

P.S: I got my oath letter 5 days before the ceremony in Dallas.

I understand your concern, and I relay to it, however reread my answer to you and you will know what to do after 120 days. :)

How can I find the ceremony dates??????

namechecks are a different issue. CIS is unable to make a decision within 120 days in this case ,their dependency is on the FBI and so they argue they dont have to decide in that timeframe

But you can still file a lawsuit...am I wrong?

if i m ake an info pass appointment would they tell me the status, or will they just tell me that they can't tell me anything about it. and all i can do is wait, as i heard from many many other frustrated applicants. i don't want to drive 3 hours for nothing!!

sony55,
Relax. I was interviewed in the begining of Jan and there was a oath ceremony in Feb. but I couldn't got to go in that because that was full. May be that is case for you too. If not in this you will get it in next. Be positive.
And this prove that they have a oath every month so its not too bad. Also if your case don't have any complication then why you are thinking about denial?

i am little paranoid amishah because what i read here. Anything is expected with the USCIS, they make no sense. I am thinking about denial cuz the lady didn't tell me i was approved, just said i should hear in 6 months and only marked that i passed the test, didn't mark anything else!!
