Based upon a news article I found at

It seems that a person satisfyin gthe following criteria can naturalize

(1) Been permaenet resident for 15 years
(2) Last 4 years had resided abroad while working for
    an american corporation developeing commerce.
(3) Even though counting for the last 5 years he/she doesn\'t have
    30 months of physical presence in the U.S the fact he was developing
    commerce for a U.S company abroad for 4 years he can still naturalize
    since his time abroad still contributed towards teh physical
    presence.

Is this really true ?

Has this person actually returned to the US? INS may deem that he established a new permanent residence after 4 years in a foreign land, especially if this was in his birth country. If INS permits him to retain his green card, his residence for Naturalization purposes has been broken. N-400 may be submitted 4 years 1 day (2 years 1 day if married to US citizen) after his return to the US.

the legal excemption is for a US nonprofit corporation, engaged primarily in dispensing information and promoting US interests, AND is on a special list maintained by Attorney General. If the employer was a "for-profit" employer, like Unocal Oil or General Motors, it does not qualify. You may contact an immigration attorney for a more complete up-to-date list.

Yes This person has returned to the U.S. This person frequently came back to the U.S during his assignment for short business trips. Further the foreign country was not the country of his birth.
 
N-400

For citizenship continuous residency for 4 yrs and 9 months in US is the rule.
  Is that changed to 4yrs and 1 day!

Please correct!
 
6 months rule

Hello,
If anyone know that what can be done if you stay outside U.S. for 8 months three times, but you have completed 30 months in the U.S.. Lawyer says you can summit tax documents and prove that you had close ties here in U.S.

Not just that you need to
a) Prove your trips were temporary in nature
b) Show you intended to come back
c) Tax returns are great. Do you have rent receipts /bills etc?
d) Re-entry?
