Hello everyone! I am new to this website and from what I read, it is a very helpful place to seek advice. I don't have a horror story to share, but I do have the knowledge of K1/K2 visa. Came to the USA on a K1 visa in 2000, married within the legal 90 days, went through all the temporary GC paperwork, then the permanent GC, which I posess and will expire in 2014. After 8 years of marriage to a US citizen, our marriage is ending in a divorce, we plan on filing within a month or so. My (still) husband is very cooperative and helpful with everything, so far. The questions to you all are: do I have to go though another wad of paperwork informing USCIS about my divorce, although I will be keeping my husband's last name and my green card is good for another 6 years? If so, would it be easier to apply for citizenship right after the divorce, save myself a ton of papers and lots of trips to the nearest (200 miles) USCIS?
Any info and suggestions are much appreciated! Thank you!
