Ciba and others: Is there a number to call for plastic card status?

Hi All,
I did my passport stamping in May and have not received the plastic card yet. I know it takes a while but I am planning to move from my current residence. Will the card get forwarded to my new address or do I have to fill out some INS forms to make that happen.
Is there a number I can call to find out the status of my plastic card?

Thanx in advance,

You can call the regular INS NUmber , 949-831-8427, and talk with an IIO. You will need to inform INS about the new Address. The Post Office WILL NOT forward your card like they do with the regular mail.

Hi serenityNow,

The phone number to check your plastic card is the
same as the one that you checked your I-485. The
wac number is the same as well.

arungk,

Actually, there is no "do not forward" sign on the
envelop of plastic card, and thus, the mail will be
forwarded to new address by post office if you have
a mail forwarding service. A few folks got the cards
at their new addresses.

May be this has changed then. When I went for my passport stamping the Officer made sure that I understood that the Post Office WILL NOT forward the Card and that I am supposed to inform INS of any address change.

One of colleagues recently had his card returned to the INS because he had not informed INS of the new address. He did have a forwarding address with the Post Office.

It might be best to inform INS of the new address to be on the safer side.

Thank you Ciba and Arun,
It seems like it might be safe to just update the address anyway. The only concern there is that if \'processing the address change\' by INS is going to cost me some more time than usual - everything at INS has to have some \'processing time\' :)

SerenityNow,

You are right, and the worst part is that change of address
will almost certain never get updated in their system no
matter how long/short the processing time is. :)
