URGENT: Choose between Consulates for Stamping - Delhi or Mumbai
Hi
I was in US on L1 visa (stamped from Mumbai). I came back in April 2005. Since then i am working in Mumbai. In the mean time i applied for new H1 petition and my employer has put the consulate as New Delhi in the petition. My I-797 shows the consulate as New Delhi.
However i have been residing in Mumbai for the last 6 months. I would like to know to which consulate should i apply for the interview for stamping.
Will it make any difference if i go to Mumbai consulate even though my I-797 shows consulate as New Delhi. What are the chances of rejection if i go to Mumbai consulate.
Alternatively if i go to New Delhi consulate, will they ask me to provide proof of my residence in New Delhi for the last 6 month. Or i can just tell them that i am a resident of New Delhi. Or will it not matter at all since my I-797 shows that consulate is New Delhi and therefore the only option i have is New Delhi.
Please share your experience on the same.
Please note that it is a fresh H1 and not a revalidation case.
Thanks
Naveen
