Hello,

I am in US on H1B Visa.
I want to invite my parents from India on Visitor Visa for 5 months.
They have their Visa appointment in US Consulate in Mumbai on 15th October.

  • Do they require my original birth certificate to take with them for the appointment?
The VFS website for Mumbai US Consulate shows the parents require original birth certificate f the child is in US. Or is it required only for children in US under 14 years of age?
Has anybody's parents went for interview without original birth certificate and got the visa?
  • Do they need to show buying of Medical Insurance for visit to US with them for the appointment?

Your quick response will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

They do need your birth certificate or cert of non-availalability and affidavits.

The insurance can wait till they actually travel

My parents, before they became US and Canadian citizens, got US visit visas without birth certifcates for any of their kids. Their reason to visit the US was "tourism".

Has anybody's parents went for interview without original birth certificate and got the visa?

yeah how many years ago was that. things dont remain static they specifically ask for BC now check the website.

It seems you missed the point I was trying to make. Since their reason to travel to the US was "tourism", there was no need to prove any parent-child relationship.
