Children away from parents ..

Hi All,
Recently we received papers for medical and a letter, stating that they will inform us once the interview dates are available at Detroit. My spouse and myself are in USA and our children are in India. We have included them in our applications as dependents.
I would like to know the course of action to be taken when they call the interview. Considering that the children do their medical in India and they send the reports as needed and we take the interview -
1. Can we get their passport stamped in their absence after our interview and go to India to get them?
2. Can the primary applicant enter Canada first, do the necessary paper work, and find a place to stay and later get the dependents?
Please share your experiences and thoughts. We will be grateful to your feedback.

not sure, but...

I believe you need to use a follow-to-join procedure in order to get your kids (if under 21) overhere. The I485 applies only for the people in US at the time of filing. If you have an H1 bring the kids using H4 status and you'll be fine to complete the stamping for the whole family upon your approval.
Hope that helps.

1) Sure you can do that. For your information the PR visa will most probably not be issued at the time you are interviewed. The passport request is sent out a couple of months after the interview (generally). You can either mail the passports to Detriot or go in person. If you plan to go in person then any one of you can carry all the passports and get it stamped.

2) Yes thats possible but the primary applicant has to enter first. Also keep in mind that all the dependents will have to land in Canada before the expiry of the visa.
