Chicago N400 Background check

Hi All

I sent my N400 since 12/17/2006 to chicago district and untill now I have not received any thing
and i have never been arrested, not even charged, few trafic tickets during the past 6 years
Please what i Have else to do .....please help

01/10/2007 FP Notice
01/19/2007 FP Done
Jun 2007 infopass#1 with background check
Jan 11 2008 infopass#2 with background check
Jan 22 2008 sent letters to FL, Senators, Congress, FOIP with no respons

Similar situation

Hi, qqaisi,

I've got a similar situation:

N-400 was received by NSC on 10/25/2006
Finger printing was completed on 11/14/2006
Nothing ever since.

Filed FOIPA and got reply back "No record" on main files search.

Probably the WOM is the only solution after waiting for two years unless the policy is changed (which I strongly doubt). I think law-abiding legal residents are targeted and profiled simply because they are educated and according to their logic thus posing greater threat.

I waited for about 18 months before proceeding with WOM. I don't see any reason for you guys to wait 2 yrs. Continue with following up on your pending case, such as following up with senator/congressman, first lady Laura Bush, infopass appointments and also writing an inquiry letter to N-400 supervisor using certified mail so you have some kind of written proof.

Well what I heard is if you have been arrested and or charged before and have any criminal background they tend to take a very long time to be cleared for the name check? Do u mind telling us if u have any prier arrests?

what is the N-400 supervisor? can u please explain that?

In a nut shell N-400 is an application used to file for citizenship (naturalization) and supervisor is the person who is basically the head or incharge of that specific N-400 unit handling applications and probably inquiries. I wouldn't be surprised if he or she doesn't get back to you but atleast you will have something to prove to the judge that you did every possible effort to inquire about your case, but still USCIS has failed to do it's job on a timely manner.
