I'm lost.

I'm married to a USC and we recently sent our package I-130, I-485, I-765 to the Chicago Lockbox. All necessary copies, medical exam, G-325, photos were included. For some reason we managed to write the checks with incorrect filing fee amounts.
USCIS returned the entire package immediately and we got NOAs I-797 for each form we sent, I-130, I-485 and I-765.
RD 12/08 - ND 12/12. Each NOA had a different Receipt-Number MSC-06-070-xxxxx but they all showed the same notice type: Rejection Notice. "The check amount is incorrect ... the correct filing fee is .... Please resubmit ... " When I try to check the cases online I don't get any information though. They probably don't list any of these rejected files so far, I can actually understand that. On the other hand, I thought, once they have issued receipt numbers I could find them sooner or later online to check the status. Anyway

We doublechecked the correct filing fees, wrote another set of checks and sent the package back to Chicago Lockbox on 12/17. Sure enough we sent registered mail in order to be able to track it.

Now here is what puzzled me. I tracked USPS earlier this evening and this is what US Postal has to say:
Notice left
We attempted to deliver your item at 10:22 am on December 23, 2005 in CHICAGO, IL 60607 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

What does that mean ? They didn't work today ? Is it that simple ?
Are they going to pick up our package or not ? What do you think ? Any other thoughts ?

Thanks, dude :)

I feel much better now.

Obviously USPS failed to update this case and left me in the dark.
I got mail today from USCIS.
RD for I-130 and I-765 12/27/05
ND for I-130 and I-765 01/04/06

I-485 still MIA. I wonder if I got an NOA in the mail on monday.

I finally received the missing NOA for my I-485. It has the exact same RD and ND as already shown on those NOAs for I-130 and I-765. Even more mysterious: it has the same post stamp date as the other ones I received more than a week ago. What's wrong with USPS ? Anyway, I'm happy to have it in my hand now.

Prior to this, because I couldn't just sit and wait, I called USCIS 1-800 number the other day. It took almost 20minutes to pass the annoying wait line before I could talk to an officer. I told him my concerns on this missing NOA. He was very nice and friendly and checked my case. It took us another 20 minutes to check and crosscheck the computer system since he wanted to make sure that everything was filed correctly in there. Finally he said, that the NOA should be on its way like all the others, but he initiated the send-out of another one, just in case. So now I'll be getting another one sometime next week, huh ?

Next step: I'm waiting for the biometric appointments.

Do we need to submit original parents’ marriage affidavit?

When filing the I-485, I-130 package for Parents - I believe, based on reading, only copies of supporting documents need to be attached (exceptions are employment letter and medical check envelope).

However, an expert in another board said that the following two supporting docs should be ORIGINALS too. Just wonder what is your experience on this?

* Affidavits for Birth, Marriage etc., (if any)
* Tax Transcripts

I am particularly not sure about the affidavits. Should originals be mailed with the 485 package or are Copies alone enough ? (So, we may take the original affidavits to the interview, when called).

In my case, there is a difficulty in filing the parents’ marriage affidavit in originals since I am filing for my parents at the same time. --I only have one original copy of their marriage affidavit and it takes a long time if I ask my relative abroad to get another original copy.

Thanks so much.
