Does anybody know which number to call for finding out whether my case has reached the consulate.
The phone message @ NVC says that my document review is completed.
What next???
Shd I just wait for the P4?
Will I have enough time to plan for the trip to my motherland.
 
if you check up after 7 days on the same NVC phone number. you will hear a new message saying that your papers has been send to Madras consulate in your India.

From that date it will take 2-3 months to get the interview days. be prepared for that... check cptracker.com where you will get the better analysis of this date.

you will have enough time to plan your trip to inida. don't worry...be happy...

Chennai phone number. AS bhaskar mentioned wait for another 1 week for case to be mailed and another 2 weeks before checking with the consulate. So wait another 3-4 weeks before you call the consulate~! Expect interview in about 2.5-3 months from now!

I called the NVC number today and heard the message that my case has been forwarded to Chennai. I am getting impatient. :)
 
Now that my interview day is closer :-
1. When shd I get Employment letter. Is it too early to get it now.
2. I received transcripts for YR -2001, 2002, 2003 from IRS. Can I open it. I had asked for the free documents instead of the photocopy for which IRS was charging. Is that enough?

Get your employment notarized letter ONLY after your interview is scheduled. Expect interview in about 2.5 months!

What you need is IRS transcripts for last 3 years. If you have received them then you can open it as they need be be given to the consular officer in sealed format.

Can I open it or not?
I got transcripts for 2001,'02 & '03. The transcript for 2001 was not sealed properly (it was open when I received it).


Also I want confirmation that what I received is the correct document from IRS. I chose the free transcripts. Is that right.

free transcripts is what you need! These are simple computer printouts of your federal tax returns. if they are sealed then open and verify! normally they are not sealed!

Hi Rams,

i don't have any special experience other then our regular experience. Every thing went soooooooo smoth....as expected.

Only thing is i stayed in Hotel PICNIC which is walkable to Railway station. From there any place (Lisner lab & Dr. V & Spencer Plaza (shopping complex))auto charge is 35/- (don't take auto which are infront of the hotel come out to the main road which is 1 min far and take auto) and room charges are for A/C 600 Delux A/C 750. I felt reasonable. my POE is Apr'18th. No problems at POE.
