I sent one email yeterday to chennai consulate to inquire about my application receipt status and the interview date. My application was forwarded by NVC on 20th August.
This is the reply I got today:
'We have received your application and as far as interview date - contact us again in second week of september.'

What does it mean as far as the interview date goes? Am I smelling the october interview?

Anybody with similar reply?

Possible October interview. The October interview list will get finalized in the second week of sept and will be published on the chennai consulate web site on / around 16th sept. Thats why you got an email stating check again after 2 weeks bcoz that is the time when they will be deciding the exact interview dates for the eligible candidates. I am in the same anxious situation.
 
What about the P4?

I mean when do we inform consulate about the India address for sending the P4?
My attorney said nowadays chennai is not sending the P4 but they are only sending the Appointment letter to the US address.

Lets say in mid sept you come to know that you got a october interview then you can have someone call the chennai consulate and request to send the appointment letter to a address in india where you want it sent OR you can have your folks stop by the consulate and pick up a duplicate appointment letter.
 
You could just send an email to the chennai consulate with your local indian address and they would then send it there. My case was send to chennai on Jul 30th and i send then an email on Aug 5th, they replied back saying that they recieved my case and would mail the P4 to my indian address and also it is very likely that i would have an october interview.
 
Is P4 is nothing but ..

the DS-230 Part II and some documenation for Medical Examination?
We can as well download form the chennai consulate immigration page. Isn't that is sufficient?

My attorney said we need appointment letter and the other documents can be collected from the consulate.
 
True...the only important doc in that p4 is the appointment letter which you will need not only for the interview but also for the medical checkup. Rest document can be downloaded from the respective websites.
 
mumbai may be behind on emails replies but i am VERY HAPPY that they are ahead on processing cp interviews. Averaging 6 months for mumbai while a couple months more if one goes thru other consulates. Bombay has been averaging atleast 30-35 E category candidates a month vs 20-25 E category candidates in other consulates.
 
I have still not requested that P4 be sent to my indian address since I truly dont know the exact date of my interview.

Once the interview date is set then i will have my folks pick up a duplicate appointment letter from the consulate in person.
 
P4 Documents

You have mentioned that the Appointment Letter is the only important thing in the P4
AND
that other can be downloaded from the website.

What other documents are these and where can they be downloaded from?

Also, I had mentioned in the DS 230 forms - the indian address where I would like to receive my appointment letter.
Do you think this would be sufficient or do you have to E Mail the consulate in any case ?

Do the people at the consulate get offended with too many E mails ?
