Hello All,
Thanks to all, these boards were very useful to me. I am posting the H4 experience of my Wife (1st time H4) @ Chennai Consulate. I am in the US on H1 and got married in November. Interview was on Jan 6th.
Questions:
1. What does ur husband do?
-- xxx
2. how long has been staying in the US?
-- xxx
3. When were u married?
-- xxx
3.5 Can I see the photos?
-- Gave the entire album. Visa Officer asked if she had few photos seperately. She showed 30 photos covering important cermonies seperately.
4. How many children do you have?
-- xxx
4.5 Can you please show the Visa on the copy of your husband's Passport?
-- Showed H1 Visa Stamp in my passport.
5. Can I see your husbands W2s?
-- Showed notarized copies of my W2 for all 6 Yrs stay in the US. The officer just held the documents in hand. Did not even look into them.
6. Can I see your husband's I-797
-- Showed Notarzed copy of my H1 petetion.
7. Please go and pay the Visa issuance fee.
In addition to the above docs, I had sent I-797 original, I-129, LCA, Pay slips for current calander year, Tax Returns for years of stay in the US, Bank Statements for 6 months, Offer letter from current employer, Expereice letters from prev employers. Obviously the Visa Officer did not ask for any of these.
It seems that H4 was rejected for 2 women right before my wife because they couldn't provide W2 forms.
So prepare your wife well and I think Payslips and W2s are the important pieces of documents. Notarized copies will be fine.
