Hi all,

I am wondering if this is normal. I sent out I-130 applications on behalf of my twin daughters. The checks were cashed on 12/08/2008 but so far I haven't received any receipts. Does it normally take this long for USCIS to issue receipts? I am a permanent resident.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Did you send your applications to Chicago lockbox?

It usually does not take this long to get receipts after checks get cashed.

I sent the applications along with the checks to

USCIS
PO.Box. 804625
Chicago, IL 60680-1029

Do you think I should call USCIS and enquire about the status of my applications? should I call the California center since I reside in Nevada?

thanks much!

I looked at the latest instructions for form I-130, it seems that the address I sent my applications to is correct except for the last 4-digit of the zip code, I used 1029 and the current instructions show 4107. Would that be a problem?

Logically speaking, since the checks were cashed, this tells me that my applications were actually received by USCIS and passed some initial check...

Look on the back of the cashed checks and there will be a number (a combination of 3 letters and 10 numbers)...this is your case number. You can then use this number to check your status online on the USCIS website....this will tell you if and when the receipt was sent (it could just be a problem with the mail)...though if a receipt hasnt been sent, it will definitely give you an indication of where you are in the process.

You're a GENIUS! :) .. I was able to locate copies of the checks via my bank's online account. The backs of the checks do have the case numbers. I ran the numbers through USCIS's online case status but the cases weren't found. I guess I have wait until tomorrow and call customer service to enquire about my two applications.

Thanks again!

The numbers on my checks were not exactly my case numbers. They were one number off.

Hey I think you're right, I tried the "one number off" and I got a match (one number is check_case_number +1 and the other is check_case_nunber - 1).

However, there is no way to tell that those cases are mine (I sumbitted two cases on behalf of my twin daughters). The online status check do show a receipt date of Dec 3 for both cases. Checks were cashed on Dec 8.

It's now clear that those receipts were lost in the mail. i will call USCIS tomorrow.

Thanks guys. you've been extremely helpful!!
